Location
St. Mary's Playschool has been established for a number of years in the village of Belford. We are located in the lower classroom of Belford First School. This benefits the children as it enables them to familiarise themselves with the First School.
Playschool works very closely alongside Mrs Hutchinson who is the reception class teacher. We visit her class regularly, which we find a great benefit to the children for when they start school in her class, as the room and all areas of the school are familiar to them. This makes the transition to full-time school less traumatic.

Facilities
The classroom is self-contained with a toilet and washing facilities. Children may use the playground in fine weather and the school hall on a weekly basis. We have a wide range of outdoor and indoor equipment for the children to play with.

Ethos
We aim to provide a stimulating environment where children have fun learning through a wide variety of play activities. We encourage children to have a positive attitude towards themselves and to other children and adults. We provide equal opportunities for all children and no child will be refused on grounds of colour, religion, sex, ability or disability. Our playschool aims to cover the Early Learning Goals laid down by the Department of Education however, the emphasis is firmly on learning through fun. We operate an open door policy; parents are welcome to help during playschool sessions.

Fees & Funding
We are a self-funding charity. In addition to fees we stage regular fundraising events and receive donations from local residents and businesses. We are grant registered to enable us to claim grants for eligible children attending the playschool. This enables us to keep the fees down to their present low level.
